  • Does Acupuncture hurt?
This can be subjective to the patient.  Overall, acupuncture should not be a painful experience.  There may be an initial poke upon insertion of the needle as some areas of the body are more sensitive than others.  If pain persists after inserting a needle, please let us know and we will adjust it or remove it completely.  Acupuncture is a very personal experience.  You may feel a dull ache, tingling sensation, muscular contraction or twitching, slight numbness, or even a dripping sensation as if water is trickling down your limbs.  These sensations are totally normal and are temporary.  Once the needles are in it is best that you lay still and concentrate on breathing and relaxing through the many sensations you will be feeling.  Acupuncture is a time for processing and healing.

  • How many treatments will I need?
To truly answer this question we will have to first schedule a Free 15-Minute Consultation by contacting me through the form at the bottom of the page.  Many acute conditions can be managed in 4-6 treatments.  More chronic conditions can take longer.  The length of time varies depending on your situation.

  • What if I have to go to the bathroom during my treatment?
If you need to use the restroom, it is always best to do so before the treatment begins.  If during the treatment you can no longer fight the urge, please let us know, and we will remove the needles.

  • I really want to be treated but I cannot afford it, what do I do?
It is important to us that you get the help you need.  Please contact us to discuss your situation and we will do our best to accommodate your financial needs.  In the future, we will be offering group acupuncture, which is a fantastic option for those with financial difficulties or for patients who want to get weekly treatments, and not have it be too costly.

  • What do I wear?
Please wear loose-fitting clothing.  It makes our job easier if you can pull your pants above your knees, and your shirt above your elbows.  Shorts and T-shirts are a plus!  Also, please remove all jewelry, and empty your pockets before your treatment begins.

  • Do I have to disrobe
Most acupuncture treatments do not require you to disrobe.  However, if there is a clothed or sensitive part of the body that we must access then proper draping techniques will be administered.
